November 2025
Dear Friend of Preserve Wild Poway,
It’s hard to believe that Preserve Wild Poway is wrapping up its third year! Thanks to your support and our dedicated volunteers, 2025 has been a year of meaningful progress for Poway’s natural spaces and wildlife.
Here are some of our key accomplishments this year:
Protected acreage surrounding the Meadowbrook seasonal pond and creek, preserving vital habitat for local wildlife.
Launched our Land Stewardship Program — working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the City of Poway, and community volunteers to ensure open space areas are properly monitored and protected.
Took legal action to hold the City of Poway accountable for violations of its Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) — including outdated in-lieu habitat fees, lack of open-space zoning, and unprotected wildlife corridors.
Hosted educational events to help residents learn about protecting coastal sage scrub habitat, reducing light pollution, and preparing for wildfires.
Applied for California’s 30x30 Land Grant to help acquire and protect a Boulder Mountain ridgeline property north of Twin Peaks.
Expanded community outreach through local fairs and speaking engagements.
Requested and was granted approval to have "Toby: The Western Spadefoot of Meadowbrook Pond”, a picture book by Jessie Boeller, in public libraries and some schools, inspiring the next generation to care about our seasonal wetlands.
Each of these accomplishments was made possible through the passion, commitment, and generosity of people like you. Interested in learning more about these accomplishments? Contact us—we’re happy to share details and answer any questions.
Help Keep Preserve Wild Poway Going Strong!
As a small, volunteer-run 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, we rely entirely on community donations to continue this important work — protecting Poway’s ridgelines, open spaces, and wildlife.
Your tax-deductible gift will help us:
Continue land stewardship and habitat protection projects
Educate residents about local wildlife and conservation
Advocate for strong environmental policies at City Hall
Work to preserve and conserve important natural areas such as ridgelines, seasonal wetlands, and wildlife corridors, ensuring they remain protected for future generations.
Please consider making a year-end donation to Preserve Wild Poway so we can keep fighting for the wild places that make Poway the “City in the Country.”
Note: Qualified Charitable Distribution (age 70½+) If you are subject to Required Minimum Distribution, a Qualified Charitable Distribution can directly reduce taxable income.
