URGENT: Speak Up About Poway’s Ridgeline Development

Poway’s City Council will discuss hillside and ridgeline review procedures Tuesday, December 2nd at 7:00 PM

They will decide whether staff should continue approving ridgeline developments without public input—including declaring project impacts “less than significant” when they may not be.

If the Council takes back approval authority, residents will be notified, on the city council’s agenda, when ridgeline projects are proposed. It’s not perfect, but it’s far better than decisions being made quietly at the staff level.

Protecting and strengthening ridgeline policies is essential to keeping Poway beautiful and preserving the “City in the Country” we all love.

Why Ridgeline Protections Matter to Residents:

  • Our general Plan says, "Prominent ridgelines and hilltops shall not be built upon."

  • Preserve scenic character and property values

  • Protect wildlife habitat and native plants

  • Reduce wildfire dangers and landslide risks

  • Limit light pollution and protect night skies
